“A truly tranquil, exquisite home in nature. I think the photos of this stunning home capture only the tip of what is available to you here. The views over the vlei are just gorgeous. On our first evening, we relaxed by the pool and watched the sunset with the Swallows making incredible formations in front of us. The baths and showers are superb, finishes are ridiculously modern, and the fireplaces are all tip-top. I really mean that last point, so many homes have fireplaces that are falling apart. The many ones of this home are all in great condition. The beach is literally a skip away and you can smell it from the balcony. Cannot wait to stay here again, thank you so much for the warm hospitality and incredible coffee!

“We are a family of 4 travelling the Garden Route and wanted somewhere to rest for a couple of days. Jan and Kim's house was a terrific find. Close to the beach, huge open spaces, tastefully decorated and with its own private swimming pool (which we loved in the heat). The bedrooms all had very comfortable beds and ensuites, and linen was fresh and just lovely. Jan and Kim were very hospitable, and made a quick 2x day stop an absolute pleasure. We would highly recommend.

“This house in nothing less than astounding. The pictures do not do it justice. It is so unique; it feels like you are in a house featured in a home magazine. The house itself, the decor, the location, the hosts are unbeatable. It is a five minute walk to a pristine beach and a five minute car ride to town. You simply must have a special visit to Plettenberg if you’re staying in this home. Thank you for the spectacular experience.

“Absolutely incredible experience. Jan and Kim do a great job describing the house and providing pictures but nothing can really do justice to the experience of staying here. First of all and on the admin side, their communication was fantastic, we booked late on Thursday night and they quickly responded to confirm things on their end. We stayed in touch well leading up to our arrival and it was a seamless transition from ringing their gate to being inside the house getting a tour. The house is breathtaking – extremely modern and tons of space. It is also quite secure. We were a group of 4 but you could comfortably have 12 people there. The indoor braai and pizza oven made for some fantastic home-cooked meals, which were enjoyed at the huge and beautiful dining table. There is tons of comfortable lounge seating that either faces the fire places or the wall to wall windows that offer beautiful views of the surrounding area as well as the patio complete with a pool. The bedrooms are all very nice and each has it’s own gorgeous bathroom and shower. The showers were one of my favorite things about the room, extremely nice rainwater showers with completely overhead. The bedroom was beautifully made up upon arrival with multiple clean, soft towels folded on the bed for you. The kitchen could not possibly be better equipped, top of the line appliances and a plethora of nice cookware, flatware, china, glasses, etc. On top of all of that there is ton of beautiful and interesting artwork in the house. It somehow manages to feel very homey and familiar while being so large and modern. The location is great, it is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute drive to a grocery with everything you’d need in it. Can’t recommend staying here enough and I sincerely hope to be back in the future.

“My wife and I recently visited Plettenberg Bay to celebrate a birthday of a close friend. The Red Box was to be the venue for our group for the weekend, which turned out to exceed our expectations on every score. Getting to Plettenberg Bay is a breeze nowadays, with a daily return flight from Cape Town, which only takes an hour. What a pleasure to avoid the usual stress of 6 hours on the road, and a painless start to the weekend. The villa is five star in every respect. Large airy spaces, overlooking the neighbouring wetland, with the only sound being that of bird calls. No traffic noise, no thumping music from neighbouring properties. The beach is a five minute walk away, and provided our daily exercise, strolling to the end of the beach and back. I am a stickler for room comfort, and our room met my high expectations. A large comfortable bed, with our own private patio, and a shower that worked brilliantly. The decor throughout the villa is tastefully done, with interesting art pieces adorning the walls. Our group of friends had a most enjoyable weekend, in the best of surroundings. Although the villa does not have a sea view, this is not a disadvantage, as the micro-climate makes up for it, being noticeably warmer and less windy than the houses on the sea-facing ridge. Having visited Plettenberg Bay many times over the decades, the Red Box is without question the finest accommodation we have ever enjoyed there. I am planning a return visit, this time with our family, as it is perfect for a family holiday, particularly given its proximity to the beach, and sparkling pool. To be recommended.
